Getting back on my own two feet

Hard to do

As without him

It's just gloom

He was my savior

My glue

Protecter of all

No exclusion

As with him

It was peace

He is gone

Living peacefully

But here on earth

It hurts

To think of him

To reminisce

In the memories

Just wishing for him to come back

To come in open arms

Telling me it's okay

That he's back

It hurts to think

It hurts to say

There's emptiness 

And silence

Very loud silence

A heartbreaking poem, Lauren. I feel your sadness and longing in every word. You have a gift for putting your emotions into lines.

"He is gone
Living peacefully
But here on earth" - These lines struck me. Even though we break up with someone, they're still around us. There's no escape sometimes and you've illustrated that very brilliantly with these lines.
