ForgivenA Poem by Basil PiazzaI am a sinner imperfect as they come my words taste like poison, I hate the things I've done. and I am a child, foolish at best The world is so broken I'm speaking for the best of us speaking for the rest of us standing on stilts made of sand we are sinking in our stand we are sinking in the sand. Save me from my selfish pride the sins that I will hide behind to paint a face that doesn't cry I am strong, I am breaking I am strong, I am breaking....
still you love me, you love me as I am. still I love you as best as I can... as best as I know how? I know nothing of love, we know nothing of love.
love is just another word on the shelf, collecting dust from the ancient self feeling something real are we feeling something real? we know nothing of love.
(a childs eyes burn so bright as they cry for a hope for a father... and a mothers sighs lift the cries of her baby who hopes for a love from a father)
I am forgiven by the blood of your son I am forgiven the war has been won, oh undesereved love I could never have enough oh unearned love I could never do enough
(a childs eyes burn so bright as they cry for a hope for a father... and a mothers sighs lift the cries of her baby who hopes for a love from a father)
you see me inside and out you call me beautiful the worst of me, adorned in my doubting dress i am such a wretched mess of life... how could you love me? the worst of me lovely, the worst of me is myself. © 2011 Basil Piazza |
