April Sixteenth

April Sixteenth

A Poem by Barry!

When all the heartbreak's over

And the earth's to be unmade -

What kind answer can He give

Those who didn't make the grade?

"I'm sorry but you worshipped wrong"

Or "The God you followed lied"

Or "Your childhood's sin was unforgave

but, yes, we know you tried."

"The line must somewhere be drawn."

Is fine for grades at school

But each belief believes the rest

Will wind up made the fool.

And is eternal torment just...

For sins which are the norm?

Is every dime you got last year

On your 1040 form?

ah to end on a 1040 form barry, this writing takes the reader from one end of the spectrum
to the next, and its rings perfectly true, and is really clearly conveyed, saying, who really makes
God's grade, and who are really free from sin, I really enjoyed the metaphorical aspect of life
being a school, everybody bends the rules at one point or another, great insight, i enjoyed the read.

This is appealing and has some good lines; like "But each belief believes the rest Will wind up made the fool, and "Is every dime you got last year On your 1040 form?" I like the ideas you toggle with about religous contrast God and Money. Is Money God also? In today's times I believe people see it this way. The second line in the second verse is a little confusing perhaps to me. I see what you are saying, but it lacks a bit of clarity to me with from line one and the jump from the first stanza. I like the meaning and its purpose. I will be reading more of your work.
