![]() A Tyrant Along The Star RoutesA Poem by Doctor Uphoff![]() This is a long, prose dream and a poem.![]()
They were going to spend a few days
camping in the disconcerted woods, but the surprise was an evacuation order. Although this might have been ignored, the, hitherto, quiet and green hills burst into flames, so it became necessary to get high. After a short, roaring speech, they lifted abruptly. Smoke filled the palace making eyes itch. For a moment, the land strangled, but, in a glance, it died becoming a black place. Like a straw, the engine drew on outer space and the chalk of scattered stars carried the animals beyond the chain of the circus or the rides of the carnival. Within the dire pass, the wolves confronted passengers, while the crew arrived fumbling with bells and weapons. Clouds, at last were gathering to water the forest and the barren terrain; the meadow was floating away. The cat was inking a shadow along the transient shore. As it compared to the charcoal far below, there was made a serene gesture and insurance that smiled. A herd was lounging before the onslaught. Attachments could be distinguished as dangling, metallic turrets, with tangles of wires inside, plugged into cabinets and instruments which the birds did not care about. This machinery brought melodies and screens of pictures as imagined by others such as rabbits or gold fish. Whether shown in the evening or the afternoon, these caused the time to evaporate as had the morning schedule. Gathering together the wooly stars, the dogs were nipping carefully at their heels with the knowledge that any irritation would erupt, newly, against them. The distances were beyond measure yet, perforce, the range continued as prior to experience. Secret lengths were traveled, but, within thought, the circus began to recur. The trembling carnival rides had sufficient impact to determine memory. So far away, the inducements were in addition to the paintings of the impressions which had been local, fiery statements. Several creatures stayed behind to inherit the barn. Along the way, strays departed from the group never to rejoin. Even so, it was a tremendous vacation after a terrible disaster, extinction. Songs arose composed by the trees and their flocks of small lizards; large lizards were singing, stone bones. © 2013 Doctor Uphoff |
