For a first date, meet up at book store together. Create a little game. We each have x amount of time to find a book that catches our eye. We come back together, one of us shows what we found and briefly explain why. From there, the opposite person says a page number the person has to crack open the book to and start reading the page. What's said on that page will be the subject and we talk about it.

See what we both come up with as a response. After some time have the other person do the same. After both go, we decide if we should keep the books (read another page) or go find two new ones. By which we start all over again

Good way to talk about a topic you may not have before, stimulate your mind, see what someone else thinks, get a good idea of their thought process and helps keep a conversation rolling.
