The Lie

The Lie

A Poem by Barbara Borel

Take my heart my love, crumple it up and throw it away like a piece of garbage.

Take all of the love I have given you and choke it to death. So I can no longer feel it.

Take all of the time I suffered with you. For you, for us. And throw it as far as you can into the abyss. A place far away that will never know I had a heart and love in my soul.

Love is patient, love is kind, and it's a facade. It's cruel, it kills people everyday. It's fake and a farce.

Enter with caution. When people love with all of their heart and soul, all of their being, but they are left holding their empty arms lover less, their life ends. The life that was a lie to begin with.
