HideA Poem by Barbara BorelWritten in 1987 at the age of 19
I try to run and hide but there is no place I can go. All the open-arms arms seem like a big show of lies. I can't go to them when they really can't have me. There's no place I can go. If I could freeze one moment in time and live there until my death. It would be in your arms and the feeling and wouldn't be the feeling of confusion but one of safety surrounding me with every breath of skin. Then I would wake up and you would be there and I won't have to run. But reality isn't like that for I'm still under the gun. As I search for a hiding place I'll think of you. When I find safety there I'll remember you too. Will always look for a hiding place because there's no place I can go.
