Second to many

Second to many

A Poem by Pallida mors

I came in second
You looked into my eyes
and said "that's where I belong"
she scoured your mind
You loved her so
And you can't be strong

"she's there for me"
"She's waiting"

She came to you at night and stole you away
You could not leave her though I promised to stay
I came second to those who never made it to today
You said don't leave me and I remained
Why couldn't you do the same?

The power of death
remained in your laugh
You said "she's in my dreams"
You retell serenity
the way she loved
instead she screamed

"I feel so unfaithful"
She's still alive to you...

She came to you at night and stole you away
You could not leave her though I promised to stay
I came second to those who never made it to today
You said don't leave me and I remained
Why couldn't you do the same?

The worst type of heartache is being loyal to the wrong person who you love the most. I loved the last stanza, and the very last line, that gripping and riveting question of why could've you at least meet me half way in regards to my unconditional love for you. Great write. An interesting read. :)

Happily depressed haha, don't ask me what that means, the people who know me best know what it means. A little odd - but hey, who else is going to write you a story for your birthday?!?!?!?! more..
