The Snow Man

The Snow Man

A Poem by Brianna

Start with one.

Roll it with hopes and dreams.

Hope that rages like a blizzard in the heart of winter

Then

Pack it with dreams.

Dreams that haunt the soul .

Roll it large, and let it sit still.

Add another.

Roll it with love and everything good.

Roll it with the good memories of life.

Then

Pack it.

Pack it with friends and family

Then grab it with mitten hands

Carry it to where you set your hopes and dreams

and gently place it on top.

The last it small.

Oooh so small.

On the inside its as vast as the galaxy

It’s never idle

running like a wild pack of cheetahs.

It's never quiet

screaming at the top of its lungs like a stampede of elephants

Fill it.

Fill it with all the hate and greed you can find

Fill it with all the doubt one can carry

and all the bad memories one can remember.

Dot it with a happy face and gleaming eyes

Top it with a hat to hide it’s devilish horns

Prod it with sticks to give it arms.

but don't.

Don’t ever

give

it

legs.

Wow! I had no idea where you were going with the description of how to make a snow man until the end. It was a pleasant surprise. Basically, you are talking about the difference between humanity and nature, right? Like how the snow man acquires some human characteristics as it's being created. It's given good qualities as well as bad ones. But at the end it doesn't have legs, so it's stuck outside, can't move around and eventually goes away or melts. This is a great contrast between humans and inanimate things because humanity has a longer life cycle. This was so poignant. Good job! :)

Interesting. I think you can safely assume that no one has ever had that idea but you. You are one hundred percent original, and that is tough. Nice job! It was surprising and satisfying at the same time. The first half, I was pleased, like oh how cute, a happy snowman. Then your poem got some depth, some very interesting depth. Wonderful writing, great job!

You kind of made the snowman seem Hellish... A cool way of looking at them considering that we all ways see snowmen as something kids (and older people... Me...) make. Also the snowman concept reminds me of Olaf from Frozen... Very good work :)
