Day of Reckoning

Day of Reckoning

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu

Today is our day of reckoning,
For here I am exiled from you,
Now we, return from our
journey of friendship and love
from disputes that never seemed to end.

Destiny has decided to part our ways,
So I surrender to my heartless fate
No more running down alleys

No more baby girl names for you
No more greetings of my Poetic escalations
No more attempting the impossible
Upon the alters of decay,

We were not consecrated to love
We were not meant to be composed

And as words scrawl black across the sun,
I take it back, those beautiful things I once said,
Today we die for each other

I am undone,I am defeated
But I know that good can come
From saying goodbye,
And being dead to each other
Will serve a greater purpose.
