You Who Were Once...A Poem by Balkaran SidhuYou can never understand, what it is in me, for youYou who were once Free, free for what? Free for new hopes, for new dreams for failures and despairs For unknown beginnings and known ends, and attachments leaping. For youth and love, and common keeping? And now you are perfectly folded making yourself weather-proof Free too then from too much feeling? You who were once bold, bold for truth! Bold enough to trust the trust worthy Liberal in mind, free to desire May be deep down you were never free or bold May be it was just the magic of my love My so called independent human angel. You are not free, not independent You too are enslaved by insecrurities afraid of giving your heart to me You can never understand, what it is in me, for you You are not free enough to lay trust on illumination, to choose the darkness, or the light?
