If I Should Ever LearnA Poem by Balkaran SidhuIf I should ever learn, in some random way That you no longer love me, nor ever did I shall fill the streets of darkest mornings With poems written, never given! And heart-ache lived, never abandoned. Even as my selfish human form desires you I will not expect anything from you,but give you what I have I should choose the paths of repudiation. If I should ever learn, my dearest friend That at the houses of light you found other luminous ways of living, of dreaming. I would burn more bright Not remembering the direction of your sun But in alignment with your cosmic importance. With always greater evolving care How the purest light, always rushes forward I should not cry aloud, like I do on lonely mornings I will not cry. These will be but memories of Earth One day to grow dim, like your spell on me. These are just reminiscence of our physical forms before we meet in the afterlife, and could hold you for eternity.
