Perennial DevotionA Poem by Balkaran SidhuPrayers....................Prayers, I will make more of them from my spirit the passion of whose more effervescent than my stale life, Since one humble life bid us farewell All the spirituality we could share. A few good deeds, a few abiding interests Good and evil will frolic together for eternity Love and war and the chaos of unrest The prayers I make, well they will not be for me. I need not name my Lord, or have it a custom My soul worships subtly, without the need Of idols, names and faith! The prayers, they have their own power to soothe Paintings nor sculpture, neither art, nor music or words Can compare, to those gentle hours of introspection Where my soul turns my heart to love on high The purity of the purest thing I believe in The mystics run through my spine My heart it shares your perrenial beauty that no one could see, but me. I wouldn't pray for you on love's account Not for human charms or natural shares But for thirst deeper than body, light More intimate than breath and biological cares.
