Before The Rain

Before The Rain

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu

I know it will rain today,
I can see the gasps of the sky
Clouds poising themselves,
in the god's perfect heaven.

A spirit with the luster of mist
lowering its golden braziers down
Into the vapory amaranthine.
Of marshes and swamps and dim wetlands

Sipping the dew that lay in the petals,
Plunging the jewels out of the sea,
To sprinkle them over the land with blissful showers.

I know it will rain,
The birds weep with joy
Struck in the wind and the lightning now
in quest of soaking themselves in strands of rain!
