The Abstraction of our Paradoxes

The Abstraction of our Paradoxes

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu

I am the lonely and reflecting moon
standing alone in the wilderness of night sky
You, radiant as the sun of the earth
mocking my doomed inevitability.

You in your magnanimous Noon of youth, so firm
With devotion and  holy perseverance
Me with my flamboyant addiction to a transient love
You grand and female, me pitiably masculine.

You so invulnerable inside your complacency
As am so vulnerable under accusations
Your destiny is high-born and privileged
As my fate has been a exposition of mortification.

You are so innocent and graceful
as I am irreversibly subdued
Your beauty extends itself to oblivion
My homeliness has its own little preciseness.

So then how can I express my emotions?
With your eyes turning away from me
You are the dream of time and glazed gold
The diamond hue of the blazing universes coherence!

Your understanding of love ,so divine
And my love, filled with hollow ardor
Your greatness of high thoughts and pure deeds
Contrasts strangely with my exercised poverty.

The moon can only reflect...it has no real substance...and love, at times, is like that...

thank you moon :)
Your words flow together so beautifully...
To me, this poem was like magic. It gave me a mystical feeling that I only get when I escape into my own fantasy haven. Until now, that is. ;)

A wonderful write by an incredible poet :)

thank you so much..this means a lot
The woman is put in a pedestal here and it is clear that this is because the person is in love. After comparing and contrasting it's funny how even though they are so different he's able to rationalize how they work together. Very nicely done!

"You grand and female, me pitiably masculine." made me smile, and not just because I am female.
