The summer of 2012

The summer of 2012

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu

"
Never thought... summer could bring so many memories
So many ecstasies it could give.
This month of sun was never so beautiful
in these deserts where I live.

May brought hard times
the heat and the mirages tested me
but I willed through the duststorms
the hot winds my biggest enemy.

And June came with new hopes
new chances,new choices
I found a friend, walking down the lone street
among chirping birds and sweet voices.

July opened up my heart
I found some love in dry mud
the misty air electrified my soul
I wrote about love with my own blood

Here I am in the middle of August
and I mourn at the loss of time,
at sight of the failure of my youth
I wrote goodbye poems
Yet I couldn't face the heavy truth.

But summer hasn't gone yet
May be it just fused into the rain
the humidity of my sorrows are hard to bear
But I need the breeze of love to fix this pain.

This is beutiful. It has been quite a summer, hasn't it? And fall has its own kind of loveliness for you to write about.
