As if I Controlled the Time

As if I Controlled the Time

A Poem by Balaram Sarkar

It was a rainy day, I’s returning home,
The road was not lonely, yet I’s alone.
I was wetting, as no umbrella I’d then.
I was shivering almost wetting in rain.

Then I found a shade on the roadside;
I went there. But I's fully surprised,
What fortune! Whom I see in lightning!
Beside me, my fair lady, was standing.

The shade was too little to give’s shelter
She’s so close, her breathe, I could hear.
The time, as if I controlled, never to miss
She held me tight; we’re locked in a kiss.

Suddenly I heard,”Wake up! It’s morning.”
With a sigh and smile I felt it’s all dream.

In the second stanza- I might change the “I was” to “i’s” for a flow that matches with the rest of the poem.

I really enjoyed the language in this poem and how I immediately became the story teller- speech impediment and all :)
