The Last One Standing

The Last One Standing

A Poem by Rachael Reina

At the edge of a cliff I will stand,
the last one to fall.

One by one I fear that I will watch them go,
leaving me here stranded and alone.

What is my deepest and darkest fear?

That I will be the last one standing.
Standing alone on the edge of the cliff.

They will all leave,
with the reassurance that we were behind them.

But what about me?
Only the wind that pushes me towards the edge.
