Life is not a Quid Pro Quo
Nor eye for an eye or a tooth for a tooth.
One happens in business and diplomacy
To follow this is their policy
The other flames the rivalry, feud or enmity
It can't be helped they get it in their legacy.
These two rule the countries and people
Do remember this fact so simple
Progress and development are for nations
Let them take care of it
Family and love are for individuals
Do what is fit.
These rules have invaded our life agenda
Because we take them as a big success funda
But remember, life is not a business in progress
Lack of this clarity puts the humanity in a mess.
All nations' top agendas are in unison
Dismally, human values are in diffusion
And the whole humanity is drowning
In the shallow idiotic abysmal rowing.
Very well said indeed Bala.
Nations, no matter how principled they start out are always prone to going down the dark path - sometimes in pure ignorance.
The state is an entity in itself and people will be chewed up and spat out as it does what it does.
The only remedy will be found in the home.
Like antibodies - enough well rared people can reverse a nation's sickness.
Your words are deep and wise

Hello Bala, this is a great piece spoken with a strong voice and a wisdom. The world seems to be losing its humanity we put our trust in politicians and corporates too easily. I enjoyed this very much. R xo
I really enjoyed reading this, and to me it sounds like it could be a spoken word poem. It reminded me of a youtuber Prince Ea, if you haven't watched any of his spoken word poetry I highly recommend it.
But anyway, this poem I loved.

Your excellent perspective here screams where others whisper. You explain the differences perfectly, of how things are, and of how they should be. The individual is not seen in government or councils, they are seen by other individuals, who should know that we are all only one small part in the cog of the machine, and that no matter how small the cog is, it is there for a reason and will be missed if it isn't working as it should.

oh, my yes...in relationships, there are no deals or bargains...just human touch and feel that leads to love...
it is too bad the world is losing that...we need to pay it forward more often...in love, in business in politics....maybe that would make the world a little bit nicer...

No, life is not fair. No matter how hard we try to do the right thing, we are not always rewarded in kind. If we do something good for another human being, we must do it because it makes us feel right...not because we think that person will do something good for us in return. Life does not work that way unfortunately. Do good for good's sake....it's that simple. Great philosophy. Lydi**

I am ached to see people applying this give and take and eye for eye and a tooth for tooth policy every where. Giving what, when, where and the things are needed makes the giving meaningful. Nowadays even in close relations and friendships also these two rules are being followed, unfortunately. Hence this write.

"Quid pro quo" is a much-used phrase here during this presidential election & it usually has a negative taint in politics. I love the distinction that you make, how this favor-for-a-favor has no place in human relationships. If one can give, one should do so without expecting anything in return. It is my belief that when we give to others, we do get something in return, but it probably won't be what we are expecting. We put something into the universe & the universe will put something into our lives that we need . . . it could be a lesson or a blessing . . . so we need to stop checking the balance sheet & trust the process. Excellent message & creative comparison here! *smile* (((HUGS)))

I also believe in that universe aspect. No good deed( in fact both good and bad deeds) goes without being returned in some other form at an appropriate time that too with interest. But these days people have no faith or patience. Their calculations never end. Calculations every where, even in families and in friendship these things figure out.
These days, people have become real misers, even with words also. Even when we meet in parties there is a calculation in giving a compliment. Giving without any expectation has become a matter of past. So this write.
Thanks for reading my write. Thanks for reviewing, means a lot to me.:-):-):-)
Couldn't agree more.
You echoed my thoughts here. I love the simplicity of this write, Bala.
Quid Pro Quo- A favor for a favor.
Yes, this is mostly seen in political interventions, bilateral trades and diplomatic relations. Their it is a necessity. But applying it in our life values can never be appreciated. Because it depreciates the human values. Unfortunately, these days this is intruding in our relations and friendships as well.
I liked this write, Bala. keep it up :-) :-)

I am glad that your views are same. The most painful thing for me is people's thinking of advantages and benefits even in close blood relations and very close friends. Percentage of good human beings is going down. Today even good deeds are done to get into local news papers and media attention. There are many of my close people making donations, doing charity because it creates an image for them whereas their own people are also in need of those things. That makes things very depressing.
Thank you for reviewing.:-):-):-):-)
