You cease to exist even in my memory

A stranger calls every day

I don’t know what to say.

I see only the frozen mist.

You don’t exist, again I insist.

And my dear, don’t knock at my door.

For, dead souls are welcome no more.

I have read about letting go, I have read about breaking up and I have read about laying their memory to rest but I've never read something so final as this.
To desire to wipe them from memory is the ultimate in letting go.
It's tantamount to sacrificing a piece of us to achieve that goal. Like a emotional lobotomy.

Yeah, erasing a piece of memory in fact ! Once you practise it, they become total strangers and then it is up to you how you meet them. I have done that with my close relations who inflict pain without even letting them know that they don't exist for me.This poem is my immunity against such memories and negative elements.

Do you know. That could be the pre-cursor to mental state called 'Capgras Syndrome'.
My friend said her mum was so cold with her that she thought her mum had been replaced by an alien and that if she didnt co-operate and behave as if the replacement was her real mum, then the rest of the family would suffer.
The mind is such an enigma.

You scared me, Tony. But don't worry I don't let others know that. By the way, are you a specialist in that field? May be I take your help for writing a story on that plot. It seems interesting.

On a serious note, I do understand that a few people suffer from such disorders and those who go through such symptoms are actually not aware of it. It happens unconsciously so it becomes the duty of those who live with such persons to take them for proper counselling and to take care of them.

I only heard of Capgras lately via my friend.
She thinks it was an early indicator for her later condition which was diagnosed - schizophrenia.
She is under the care of the Primary Care Team as we speak.

Reading this brought the thought of one of my past ex boyfriends to memory. As a whole, the message reminds me of how little I meant to him & why he chose to treat me the way he did. I obviously meant nothing to him, though we dated a month and I gave him my virginity, but then...he just shut me out, acted like I didn't exist. As if he never knew me. I would call and text him, just wanting closure, to know why he wanted to end things when I felt everything was going so well. But I soon accepted the fact that he just used me to get what he wanted and leave me out to dry. It took almost a year to come to terms with the acceptance, but it was one of the toughest things I had to go through in my life. Thank you for sharing, it really hit a soft spot for me.

I think you got that which was beyond the words..because I went through a lot before that write came. It came as a solution and saviour..And this one relieved me a lot.. And it still gives me a lot..
