A Poem by Ryan Adalem
"

An ode to beauty.

"
The day I met you
A wrecking ball
Shattered the rivets
On my tongue.
Pillars of praise
Crumbled to the ground
Debris littering
The sidewalk to you.

I lost you
In the granite ruins
Of words.

It is only
With these tears
That I mold
The caked dust
Into a monument
For you.

This is a brilliant write. It poured out the different kinds of emotion one feels towards an idol. I loved the way you were consistent in using the image of a monument- pillars, debris, granite ruins, caked dust. Everything just formed together perfectly, like that of the person in your poem.
