"The Rain"

"The Rain"

A Poem by Bailey
"

I <3 rain!!!!!!!!

"

I breathe in the fresh, clean air

that purifies me everywhere.

I inhale the sweet, sweet smell

that makes me feel alive and well.

I relax and let them in,

a million drops to cleanse my skin.

I feel my problems slip away,

set aside for another day.

I pretend I'm still a child,

dancing, yelling, and going wild.

Rolling thunder applauds me,

I am not scared, for I can see.

Bright flashes light up my stage,

as I am released from my cage.

I feel so whole and complete,

the sky's lullaby sends me to sleep.

Rain can bring so many different emotions to me, and I tried to capture them all in this piece. Not sure I did such a good job, though.

I remember "Rain" as a nice part of my childhood. We'd go outside and play in the rain. Although I don't enjoy getting wet in the rain now as an adult, I do still enjoy listening to its serene sound and watch its beauty through the window. So I do believe that all these thoughts and feeling were captured in your poem. Thank you for reminding me of how beautiful Rain can be.

I know what you mean, James. Your author's note...it's comparable to what I feel about butterflies or frogs...when you draw them on paper--no matter how awesome the drawing--you are unable to capture the beauty. When I read your poem though, I actually feel the rain and sense the emotions you described. The rhyming scheme is beautiful. Your words "sky's lullaby" are exceptional! Wonderful, James!

I must disagree with you because the poem was well written and quite interesting to the part where you place your comments. Let the reader make his or her mind about the poem, dont make up their minds for them. After reading your comments i forgot the feeling the poem brought me and was a little angry by the comment.
I hope you understand what im trying to say.
Overall it was a good write and hope to read more in the future.
Keep it up and keep them coming, look forward to reading more in the future...

I think most people have reactions to the weather not just rain..rain can bring a cleansing like Christ when He died for us..The spring rain brings about new birth and hope..Here in "tornado alley" a terrible thunder storm with wind can bring fear as then is when the tornados come..Nice poem..Brings out the thinking part of the reader..God bless..Valentine
