Cherry PieA Poem by Poe ReddHalf-moon hangs in a cloudy sky The creamy cradle sits so high Upon the clouds that seem to sigh "Dim-lit moon, good-bye, good-bye. One day, surely, you will die. And until then we will hide Your wrinkled face from the girl and guy Who do the laws of fate defy And look you sternly in the eye. They ask for help but you deny And answer curtly with a lie. You tell the girl she cannot fly. You tell the guy he can't rely On what he really feels inside To let the girl just slip on by. Though the girl's love is cherry pie The guy, he takes your word and tries To let her go, although she cries. She wonders how she will survive. How dare you replace such a happy life With two that are filled with tears and strife?" The half-moon nodded and replied "I only want to do what's right. And if you expose that girl to flight A whole-life charge may aply And I don't want to watch her die. Alas, my friends, as for the guy There's more to life than cherry pie." © 2010 Poe ReddReviews
