![]() Against The Cherry TreeA Poem by Poe Redd
I love to watch her in serenity, when she is absent from her body,
peaceful against a cherry tree. I like to see her lips tremble like blossoms. She feels the storm, only lets it inside of her, like a disaster between quiet leaves. I hear the sadness in her fragility, the loneliness in her death wish and beauty in the way she bleeds. I am filled with the stillness of her breath and the secrecy of her covered eyes, the casual dignity of lazy tears. She smells sweet and I want to sit close beside her in the shade of her tormented leaves. I want to kiss the cherry stains on her lips. I want her to surrender the insides of her sleeves. But she is an anxious animal, a gentle doe who only sees a gun when I hold a flower, and I don't want to scare her. Or worse, give her hope for death, when all I want is to learn her silence and hold her, and share the storm of the cherry tree.
