I Just Called to Say "I Love You"

I just called to say "I love you",
like many times before.
We talked and talked for hours,
and then a few more.
You said you can't wait to see me,
tomorrow and evermore.
I've been with you forever,
so you know I'm not a w***e.
We talked into the latest hours of the night,
but something was said that started a fight.
I said " I just called to say 'I love you',"
but then I started to cry.
I just called to hear " I love you",
Instead, I heard "good-bye".
