Memorial Day

Memorial Day

A Poem by A Christine
"

2007

"
Today is the day we remember those we lost.
The ones who gave up there lives at all cost.
They stood tall, stood strong, stood proud.
And even stood out in a crowd.
They are those who risk their lives, day and night.
And for all of us, they stay and fight the fight.
They, everyday, see many a horrible site,
'Cause in their hearts , they know it is right.
Then there's also people who don't care,
And they get treated the same, free of fare.
They do bad things and get off Scot-free,
What's being fought for, they do not see.

Let's not be like them.

Take time from the day, to sit, or stand. Look up and say:
"Hey, look what you've done for us,
work to protect us without a fuss."
So let us remember this day, an important day,
By taking the time to thank them,
tell them how much we care.
We'll always be there, on this day in May,
To just stop and say "Thank You!
