Back Into the Light

Back Into the Light

A Poem by Nathan D Baker
"

Overcoming meth addiction

"
I have a headache
Staring at this once blank page
Trying to think of
The words I want to say

My body hurts
It's really bad today
All I taste is meth
In my mouth with every f*ck*ng breath
Withdrawls

Man, I can't believe
It got this bad
It's one hell of a drug
Deep inside my soul
A black, hopeless hole it dug

Never again
Will I dance with that b*tch
Or ride her shiny boat

I say f*ck that
I'm taking back my life
To take another ride

By this I mean write
With my sword unsheathed
i prepare for this lyrical war
Inside my mind
It's an everyday battle

Angel on the left
Demon on the right
For good and evil
That's why they fight

It makes me a little crazy
But sh*t, what can I say?
It's an everyday battle for my soul
As I fight to refill that hole
Left behind from another time

Everyday the clock
Ticks life away
I smoke my weed
I stay high
Head in the clouds
Chest poked out proud
with my pen and my paper
hitting my bong as I write another song

I ain't never comin down
