A Drop of Rain

A Drop of Rain

A Poem by Ralphy

Yesterday I caught a raindrop while walking home along a lonely trail

I held it lightly in my hand with hopes to save it and place it in a pail

It sparkled even without the light that shines from the glorious sun

I wondered as I stared at the tear, was it about the loss of someone’s Hun

The water poured from the sky as it inspired me and then

I thought for a moment, extended my arm, and began to wave my pen

Words of hate or words of love emptied out as each stroke drifted down

Whisking of a brush and in a moment, she waltz in her evening gown

The drop excited me as I felt it absorb into my saturated skin

A single salty drop of emotions like sounds drifting from a violin

My soul danced, the tears touched, manifested inside my brain

The water rushed from my eyes like a river as the pen wrote her pain
