To Walk in the Shoes of Another’s life

To walk in the shoes of another’s life
Is by far a difficult task to do.
Each step slides through a maze
filled with years of adventures and lessons
this correlates from a lifetime of events
unbeknownst to us.

As we approach each person,
his or her life looks stable,
but that is always an illusion.
The one frailty of life is to disguise your weakness;
it’s the in thing to do so no one knows but you.

You know deep in your heart life is a gift.
A gift to share, touch and embrace,
for if you don’t do this
what would be the purpose of having such a gift.

The blockade before each person
seems to instill a deception
that chisels away at one’s own self-control,
which destroys the true essences of life.

Governing bodies sometimes infringes on one’s life
and drives the essence of life to the pits below,
but they are only us in role,
so again,
life is the gift but we are in control.

For me,
I walk each day as if it’s my last
and wonder if there is anything I can do better.
For as I step, I
inhale and notice,
each time there is less
air to fill.

I value life, and think about each day.
I think about what people feel, and why.
Why they are unhappy,
why things happen in a particular fashion
to rain on their parade,
but I can only answer with these words of wisdom

In the travels of these shoes,
one might argue
that the glass of life is half full,
while another might challenge by saying
it’s half empty
but for me,
I embrace the essence of life and say…
I’m invigorated that the glass of life is not empty

Reading this poem
"Do unto others
As you as you would
have them do unto you."
(s:Bible (King James)/Matthew#7:12,)
First words which popped
Into my crowded mind
As the final verse is read.

Wisest words
Ever uddered by a human
To another.

Sadly
Advice not often taken
Discarded on the roadside
Of life.

Thank you, for reminding us, this very powerful teaching. Should we choose to accept and live by it.

I like the wisdom in this poem. Your story was strong and told a good tale. Better to look at another person with kindness. We never know what their life was like. A powerful poem with a purpose. Thank you.
