Camera StillA Poem by Ralphy
Camera Still
In the shutter of my eye,
the world is like poetry,
for me, it is the path of romance.
To see all is the wisdom
that carves a trail of harmony
and prosperity that eclipses
the very moment
the iris opens and time stands still
I watched the ant flex
its muscles as he carries
the grape of freedom away,
the hunger in his eyes
clicked another image…
for I had carefully planned
to give to you this grape
of plump green tint
but he was quicker,
stealing my prize possession
on this glorious spring day,
in the freshness of the afternoon.
I watched the bluebird
swoop down and cunningly
help herself to the wealth
of Italian loaf that lies helplessly
on the plaited red cloth.
I could see the hunger in her eyes
as the family continuously joined her
in the quest of liberating
my cloth of wealth,
as the shutter clicked
another moment in time
trapped forever.
I watched as the adorable fox
snuck through the trees
and stole the tangy chicken
I had fixed especially for you.
The sadden eyes of this furry creature
had me in awe as tears began to flow
from my eyes, and in an instant
trapped forever an image of a hungry fox.
I did not cry for the fox,
or bluebird or even the muscular ant…
I cry because, I have nothing left to give
to you on this glorious afternoon.
For all the food I possessed for you
is now but a memory…
all I have left to give, if you want,
are these photos,
the warmth of my beating heart,
with a passage to my illustrious soul
