Sheltering LoveA Poem by RalphySheltering Love To shelter love, nurture it, as your feet shuffle the ground Each step a challenge, as you watch the clock, tempted and unwound The stones you kick bounce up in every direction with no sure target in sight A chance of resistances almost distorts your view and simmers on fright The wind changes, the breeze picks up and sails along the shore of the deep blue You ponder the thought thinking; the only way to be sure, is to follow until it’s in plain view The strength of force gust against your face, blinding all obstacles that block your path You can’t help but wonder if what you see is a mirage or just a joke to make you laugh The water runs wild down the front of your face, creating an illusion, as if looking through a thick glass You seem to think, that along the way your mind became dizzy and flipped around to somewhere in the past Faster and faster, the rain drops in front of your eyes and no one even notices you’re here or there Contemplating, in the shadows of each tear, a memory, but questioning, does anyone really care? The warmth from the sun spotlights a new feeling that you never noticed before Another avenue has open up somewhere, while wiping your eyes you see a large door Reaching for the knob, you feel the exhilaration from your fingers all the way to your toes All the time the love you sought, in your most wildest dreams, had been sitting, beneath your nose
