when u kiss him

when u kiss him

A Poem by J. B.
"

Love and lust

"
When you greet him with a kiss
and a smile and
the warmth of kind words
do I ever cross your mind?
stumbling into your conscience, inebriated,
drunk from the love that you give to me
in hushed voices and whispered intent.
is the end coming soon? The finale;
the final frontier when you leave me on the
banks of the River Styx to wade through those raging waters. when you kiss him,
is it electric? the parting of your lips
and my dreams crumple like the autumn leaves
we both love so much.
breaking my heart to rebuild my will,
an endless cycle and the turbulence of
my intentions tossed to the depths
each day, fading from
the silence punctuating this reality,
the reality that you are not mine
and loving you is a foolish game
I keep playing at knowing the
die is already cast.
but how can I refuse you
tell me how, so I
can wake up from this delusion
and find myself smelling the roses in the garden
without remembering the taste of your skin
and the depth of your eyes.

The memories of a lost love so beautifully expressed. We don't choose who we fall in love with. The heart wants what it wants and sometimes it can be a lonely place. I could feel the loneliness in your words..the tenderness, the longing. Very well done. :) Julie
