They don't teach "awareness" In grade, middle, or high school. In most colleges lately it seems to be frowned upon. I "always" KNOW what is around me - both who and what AND of just WHERE I am.
I learned it as a kid... I've always appreciated my nightmares - they're all that's truly mine and they're even in color - who'ld a thunk.
Anyways, you've empowered me to think a bit AND remember a bit more ...while listening to these poems. I don't DO that - feeling empowered - anywhere near as much as I used to do.
Now as to THIS poem: using the same words to define, describe, depict, twist, and yes - to provide a bit of satirical rant... was fun for you. I appreciated the read.
I can understand your dislike of this old axiom, but I kinda like it & I use it to describe myself. Even tho your explanation is strong & well-stated, there seems to be a snarky edge & attitude . . . it makes me want to say: I prefer not to take life so seriously!!!!! *smile* (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
