Pocket Change

Pocket Change

A Poem by J. B.

Life for us is
Penny by Penny
Nickel by nickel
A dime a dozen
and a penny for your thoughts,
and two silver coins to cross.

You toss me to the wishing well

Don't worry,

I still wish you well

'Pocket Change'

I found this a fun little look at the repetition life can feel like; as if money falling through one's fingers. The ending was kind regardless of circumstance no bitterness is held. Beautiful.

The singular repetition was very effective in delivering that last 'mmph' at the end of the poem. Your analogies and inner connections are abstract and amazing!

I really adore this poem, it speaks to me and also is an experience I've somehow never had, which I think is a true talent! Amazing work!

clever use of some old adages.. at least it was a wishing well and not scattered across the pavement in a too busy parking lot..
