Star Duty

Star Duty

A Poem by Pen The Willows

Three stars in the night
Shining bright
Giving light
Doing their duty

But one wants something more
Knows there's something else in store
Wants a different sort of chore
Than its duty

The other stars say nay
This is night not day
Nothing changes so you'll stay
And do your duty

The one star disagrees
Would get down on its star-knees
If only they would please oh please
Relieve its duty

But its argument's in vain
Because the biggest star, the main
Will make it clear and plain
Return to duty

The one star gives up the fight
Even though it knows it's right
And it still shines in the night
Doing its duty
