Letters To Mother

Letters To Mother

A Poem by Pen The Willows
"

It's a story. Just formatted in my regular poem format.

"

Dear Mother,

I'm being bitchy?

Of course I am!

I'm not surprised that you noticed.

You only seem to give me negative attention nowadays.

Dear Mother,

It's not fair!

I understand that my brother's close to being a genius, and he deserves to go to the college of his choice!

I know we don't have the money to pay for however long he's in college for, so he needs to 'pad' his applications!

I was fine with that, until now!

Dear Mother,

You insulted me.

This contest is important to me.

I waited patiently until it was my turn to talk, between your huge discussions about my brother's future.

But when I finally got to tell you, and I was so excited (I thought you would be, too), you just said a nonchalant, "Cool," and returned to being obsessed with my brother's collegiate future

Dear Mother,

I know you love me,

But why didn't you care?

You could have shown a little interest.

You're always trying to get me to enter in things like this!

Dear Mother,

If I win, this might look good on a college scholarship application!

If I win, this could influence my future!

If I win, this could raise my self-esteem!

If I win, I will be so proud of myself!

Dear Mother,

Winning this contest could put me on the path to my future career!

This contest has given me so much hope!

I wish you had noticed!

Love, Your Daughter
