Japanese Internment Camps

Japanese Internment Camps

A Poem by Pen The Willows
"

Wrote this in my second period, while we had a speaker who once lived in an internment camp.

"

Japanese people

American citizens

Prosecuted for the crimes of a country they haven't seen for years

American citizens

Nikkei - anyone of Japanese descent

Everyone against them, even their 'friends'

Stolen from their lives because of who they are

Everyone against them, even their 'friends'

Isolated from the rest of the world

Nikkei - anyone of Japanese descent

Trapped because of their ancestry

Everyone against them, even their 'friends'

Racist people are revealed

Nikkei - anyone of Japanese descent

Mocked for being different

Everyone against them, even their 'friends'

Nikkei - anyone of Japanese descent

Trapped because oftheir ancestry

Cruel conditions

American citizens

Mocked for being different

Prosecuted for the crimes of a country they haven't seen for years

Stolen from their lives because of who they are
