Pavement

Pavement

A Poem by Pen The Willows
"

An odd little poem.

"
Here I
Walk
On the
Pavement

My friends
Are
Ahead, chatting
Along

And they
Shall never
Know about
My fears

The fear
Of abandonment
Hidden in
My eyes

And if
They ask
I shall
Lie

I don't
Want them
To
Hurt

But I
Won't be
Able to
Hide it forever

One day,
Someone will
Leave, and
I'll cry

I shed
A single tear
For thinking
Of these thoughts

Here I
Walk
On the
Pavement

And I
Wonder why
I haven't
Yet cried.

"An odd little poem" is in my opinion a perfect description of this piece. Its elegant in its simplicity. Its forthright yet subtle. It is emotional while being detached. Overall, an intriguing effect.
