The Seed

The Seed

A Poem by Dezaraye
"

It's within us all.

"

So tiny it lies
Beneath the ground.
Overwhelming piles of sludge
Holding it captive.

Tendrils of frost
Reach down with long fingers
Teasing and tormenting
Chilling.

At last a ray of light
And warmth seeps down to
A shivering, shaking seed
Overwhelmed and insignificant.

The sun's rays embrace it
Warming and comforting
And at last the seed stretches
Toward the light

Pushing through the muck
And allowing nothing to stand in its way
Working, straining
At last it's above the ground.

Nothing can stop it now
Hope becomes its mantra
And even rainy days strengthen it
Until, one day, it stands tall.

It stands strong against the wind
And mighty against the storms
Sometimes it bends and sways
But never does it break.

Something insignificant
Has grown to something great
Weathering the storms
And reaching for the light.

This isn't the best I've ever written, but it comes from inside me while I'm nurturing my own seed and trying to help it grow ...

THe thought that kept coming to mind was our one fight to grow and stand and be strong. We are the seed, too. This is a wonderful write, Dezaraye. Thank you for sending it to me. I always look forward to returning the many wonderful reviews you've given me.

Felt as though you could have been writing about all of us on our personal journeys to growth. Me?? still waiting for the warmth of the sun.

Oh, Dez - I think this is amazing - it speaks of so much more than a mere seeds struggle to be born amongst the late snows of April/May. It speaks of the struggle we all must make - nurturing our souls and hearts - always waiting for the warmth and reaching for the light. There is one lonely Croucus stem fighting for life in my snow covered yard - that I thought to write a poem about - but I couldnt touch the beauty of this write.

*hugs*

This was wonderful! The beauty of it's meaning and the way you stepped us across all the stones to understand exactly what it is that drives us along! You are so write that we start off as seeds and then grow with the loving rays of the sun, be that God or the Sun or a helping hand from parents or friends.
We weather much in this life, and when our fortitude is strong, nothing gets in our way!
This was amazing, it will be put into my favorites for sure! :)
Great Write!

This is a great piece. Read what you wrote. You're writing about a tiny do nothing seed that is fed by the sun and rain, until it claws it's way to freedom. It's a miracle, really. We have thousand off wild flowers scattered all along the hillside and in the wood, and that's exactly what happens to them. I loved this piece, because it seems impossible, now..with two foot of snow. But, that seed endures, and lies in wait for it's moment. Beautiful. Rain..

*Nothing can stop it now*

Something insignificant
Has grown to something great
Weathering the storms
And reaching for the light.... And thus life begins, Dezaraye. I like the way you view this "nurturing" taking place in your life. I think your right on target and you just keep on and keep on standing tall against the wind, your growing into a wonderful and strong young woman. I'm impressed.

I've always "talked myself" up and through the hard times, it has kept me sane over the years, so I have a special appreciation of this poem. It is wonderfully inspiring, Dezaraye and quite refreshing.
