The begining of the ending

The begining of the ending

A Poem by B.k.

But, you’re my friend she said pulling away,
her hand still caressing my neck,
Her tender touches never pierced so deep as they do tonight,
Burning, cooling, wounding, healing
She went on to speak of many things as we danced,
Of our shared ghosts our lost and forbidden futures.
She spoke of how things are and how they should be, not of how they could be.
Continuing her monologue of diversion she spoke of many familiar case studies,
where similar relationships sank and the friendship was the main casualty .
Her grip now tighten and were we as close as before,
avoiding the inescapable, blinding ourselves to the light before us
So we swayed as the music started to die out,
unearthing the past and protecting the future
we kissed and said goodbye to our friendship
