The Fall

The Fall

A Poem by Babbette Francis
"

This is just me talking to myself... hmmm? I probably need professional help, lol.

"

Walk the tight rope
One foot in front of the other
Don’t look down
Gravity eats its distance
by feeding on fear

I have been in physical therapy since open heart surgery. This hits home in another direction for me.
On the treadmill, don't look down or we can get dizzy and fall.
I think fear in life can also come upon us if we look down, we may freeze. Fear is debilitating...
so much said in five lines.

So much expressed in so few words.. The crippling legacy of fear can be haunting. Good job!

Dear Babbette,

So, your life is perilous. On the high-wire, are you? I understand. Nicely put in so few words. Yes, this is fear. So keep your footing. Fear makes it seem harder, but you can walk this way if you need to. Trust your skill. Disregard your fear. It has nothing to do with the high wire.

Best regards,

Rick

I..uh..talk to myself all the time...or to my cat, anyway...

I like this, I remember once my dad told me not to touch the flame under the tea kettle, but...I was just so curious and I did it. So when you say "don't look down" you're just so tempted to do it.
