Of the Doomed

Of the Doomed

A Poem by Babbette Francis
"

Dark Prose

"

I’ve heard silence…
a silence so loud I had to scream to be free
of its vengeful vibrations.
Darkness I’ve stammered through,
physically forcing the heavy thick black aside.
Fear was not an option then,
moving forward was all I had
and I’ve succeeded.
I’ve moved forward, into a place that I now regret.
Pride I’ve taken in getting through...
But the night always returns,
mine are now altered and I yearn to go back
to the dark and silence I once knew.
It was then I could defeat the darkness
and break the sounds of silence,
then before the fear of phantoms
who cut through the black to confess their evil deeds.

This is Rich! Rich with darkness that screams of silence. Mute the light...it says. It's too bright for this soul to bear. When fear is not of significance or even a present force, it's difficult to step into the light up on that plateau where everything is unfamiliar to us. That is when fear is introduced...a new kind of fear, one we've not seen before. Now we have to not only watch and focus on where we're headed, but what's behind us as well. No longer the safety of the back against the wall. The simplicities in life fade as we move forward into a complex life. The more we achieve, and the more successful we become, the more the uncertainties.
Excellent write, once again!

my.. this is phenomonal, and the passionate richness is a delicious drink of poetry, the ambience has
a seriousness that feels overshadowing, scarey, haunting, great job on the word play on emotions,
brilliantly done and a pleasure to read.

Hmm- I really like this, it's a very clever poem.
It seems to me that you fear 'fear' itself, and not being afraid enough to push on.
A short and indepth piece, with great flow.
