Do You Understand?A Poem by BeccaStarting college is hard. Freshman year taught me a lot, but above all else it taught me to breath and take things one day at a time. It will all make sense eventually. You know when you are a child And you spin, around and around, Until you fall on your back And let the world turn around you? That’s what its like to live Where everyone knows where they are going, When they rush past you, Because they know who they are. But every time you choose a direction, The breath gets knocked out of you And you fall to your knees.
Do you know how the earth is always moving? And no matter how much you pray or beg, You can’t slow it down? That’s what it’s like to watch life go by And not be able to catch a break; or keep up with who you’re supposed to be.
But do you know what it is like to look at the stars And feel the connection we share? The connection between us and who we used to be? Because that is when I was realized I was free. Free from the pain of deciding who I was to be. That is when I decided to let go of the lock I had bound myself to, And let myself go. © 2018 BeccaAuthor's Note
