Full Force

Full Force

A Poem by Robert J. Huntley

Splitting hairs and atoms
somewhere left of reason
fingers across the sound of something
closer to freedom than imagined
we’ve been down this road before
many times the theme of indulgence
a math gone haywire
skipping disks are breaking my flow
the letters are a map
with destinations in your smile
the man wouldn’t approve
but he is dead and this is not
we are alive and living
well with the means of our existence
together with the well-wishers
whose dimes have been spent
in a rebuke of the future
their truths dance
across the line
who are we they ask
and we laugh a them
a love and a hope
for tomorrow with morethan today
can we afford this luxury
I say yes with all the ego allowed o me
and when they come let them come balzing
both barrels
you and me
a fire down below
when the ship sinks
the life rafts will carry the hope
they always do

About
After a year long self imposed exile from Writer's Cafe I have returned. I will not be re-posting whatever pieces I lost in the great crash. If you are one of the few who read my older work, and for.. more..
