Watching

Watching

A Poem by Robert J. Huntley

Pictures tacked to a wall
Dear head reflections of a past
A party I wasn’t invited to
Their vacant stares rain down on me
With a strange mix of pity and accusation
Why did this all happen at once she screamed
A room that should’ve been empty
I will always remember that moment
There was no picture taken of me
Had there been the surprise would’ve lacked
I knew what is was then as I do now
Before that first lie of pure honesty
When we weren’t and neither was I
A peace settles now over these words
Thoughts of you trail after
As they always do these days
Before the nights without you

About
After a year long self imposed exile from Writer's Cafe I have returned. I will not be re-posting whatever pieces I lost in the great crash. If you are one of the few who read my older work, and for.. more..
