A Rythm

A Rythm

A Poem by Robert J. Huntley

I am drunk

lonely

and stupid

On a night

where I made

the right choice

The thoughts running tonight

are faster than the bulls

who are themselves

faster then the runners

before them

I am thinking

rambling

and stumbling

On a night

when I tread

lightly on the water

The shapes below

are circling my kicking feet

which seem small

compared to the teeth

that await them

I am myself

somehow

and free

On a night

what looked free

before the booze

The bottle is emptying

with alarming ease

as hours tick by

one after another

until the circling morning

I am waiting

wanting

and worrying

On a night

who went alone

with a sigh

The chance at gain is lost

with the loss sure to follow

weighing heavily upon the choice

for a better night

or life somewhere else

After a year long self imposed exile from Writer's Cafe I have returned. I will not be re-posting whatever pieces I lost in the great crash. If you are one of the few who read my older work, and for.. more..
