this is a poem a wrote (captain obvious, i know) like maybe... a month ago? its pretty bad, but its my first time ever using a rhyme scheme like this, cuz im usually more of a slam poetry type of person

she held her heart in her palm

the world could see her scars, plain as day

despite the stares she remained calm

for she knew this was the only way

 

she tapped a boy on the shoulder

and offered her heart to him

she could feel stares behind her growing colder

feeling stupid for acting on a whim

 

he glanced at her heart and then at her eyes

and as her tears started to fall

he could see the shame, the pain, the lies

and he offered her anything, anything at all

 

all she did was hold out her heart

and that was all he needed to know where she stands

so as the world slowly fell apart

they grasped each others hands
