ChooseA Poem by B_SouthPawBrain picking post colonial views, read only if you dare think outside the boxLadies and gentlemen, welcome to the show that is our lives. We stand within the crowd wondering if we are to stand about and be the same or if we should move away and become the independent everyone will then try to mimic. Is that what we have wanted? To be a follower rather than find out for ourselves if we have what it takes to be an individual and to be post colonial? There are a lot of things to be said about being a post colonial. You understand the world differently and know that you aren't supposed to fit in with the rest of the world because the world works itself around you. Even as we are sitting in front of computer monitors, we are having advertisements geared towards what we have been searching and towards what we are liking on social media. Staying out of technology as much as possible, there is something to be said about the inwards looking eyes that you will find in every corner of a public space; there is nothing wrong with the way they are looking at you. Forgive them on eye contact and move on because they are doing what they have been trained to do their entire lives. They have been trained to cast out the different and welcome in the souls that fit their narrow minded colonial ways. You don't fit? Well, neither do I. There is no time to be worried about it and change, you are only becoming what they have been waiting for you to become, even then you will not be as good as they are at being a colonial. You stick out because you have a brain that is wired differently, you have an eye for picking out details and a soul that picks fights with peoples intellect to make a point. This all leaves you standing within a room where there are people who will follow you or they will silently allow you to be there. Choose the person you want to be.
