Caught in the SunsetA Poem by Busola S. KoladeCapturing the moment
The sounds from the TV faded
Just as my gaze drifted An immediate reaction There can be no deflection The sun caught my eyes Through the window blinds The sign I was waiting for I tried to stall My favourite TV show was on But it became dull The moment I enjoyed before Lost in the charm of the Sun Now I must move on I picked up my phone The sunset started fading I was taken A picture to call my own. Out the door I ran Phone in hand As the time ran I set the timer Placed the phone on the ground The sunset behind me The whole world behind me With no one around I saw the flash But I wasn't ready So I made a dash The picture taken already I set the timer Placed the phone on the ground The sunset behind me The whole world behind me With no one around This time I was ready My hands by my side My face turned left A posture I like On the roof is a cleft It made me smile A cleft made during childhood adventures The broken asbestos It made me smile I saw the flash So I made a dash I knew I got it right Now i'll have something to write Phone in hand I saw the picture In it I stood The whole world behind me The sunset behind me It was good No, perfect! I ran back to the house Like a mouse Chased by a cat Phone in hand Nearly tripping on the door mat Now I must write A befitting title It must be right A meaning title Caught in the Sunset The moment I enjoy now Lost in the charm of the Sun It made me smile. © 2016 Busola S.
