Red

Red

A Poem by Busola S. Kolade
"

Life is Colourful

"
What do you see when you look at the world?
Do you see the normal?
Or do you see the different?
Do you see the usual?
Or do you see potentials?
...
I finally agree that i'm different from others.
Some call me weird, some call me unique
Some call me stupid, others call me strange,
Some call me serious, some call me gullible,
But it all boils down to what I call myself.
I constantly and consistently ask myself, "Who do you think you are?"
It took me a long time and some experiences to figure out an answer.
I finally have an answer to the big question.
I am whoever I wanna be.
When others see straight, I see a curve somewhere,
When others stop, I know there's something more to be done,
When others laugh at a joke, I try to find out what makes it to funny
When others go left, I look for reasons what we shouldn't go right,
I am good and bad,
I am quiet and loud,
I am scary and nice,
I am playful and strict,
I am funny when I wanna be,
I am adaptive to any situation I find myself.
So when everyone gives me the "she's so weird" look,
Or starts whispering when I walk into a room,
Or make fun of me,
I just raise my shoulders high and walk by.
Because, while I use my God given 24hrs for the advancement of my life and goals, they are all spending theirs analysing my life/lifestyle.
...
There are several ways to live your life and within the bounds of morality.
I don't have to subscribe to the conventional method/way of life.
Life is not black and white, it is colourful.
So, whenever I get criticisms about my life choices, I just shake my head, smile and move on.
Because when others see black and white, I don't see gray, blue or silver,
I see Red.

I am whoever and whatever I wanna be.
...
